Re: 600 miles.
Thanks John, Yes I have new oil and filter to change. Most of the other things you recommend ,I usually do a good check round after a good run, (not that confident with my own workmanship.) Also cleaned the plugs and points, although they were not to bad which can only be a good thing. One of the pi...

600 miles.
Not posted for a while. Been busy, but have managed 600 miles since completion of rebuild in 2020/21. Although these are all road miles. I haven't yet got the Haflinger dirty! I am working up to it. No major issues in that time, once I had sorted out the fan belts. In my spare time , well it took a ...

Re: Double pulley nut.
Great thanks,
I managed to get a 27 mm spanner and it was the correct fit.
So I may "adapt" the other end of the ring spanner so I can get a bar on it or get a socket and take off the tow bar and lower panel as Garry suggests.

Double pulley nut.
Hello, I wonder if someone could confirm the size of spanner I need to tighten the double pulley nut on the engine that must be on the end of the crankshaft. It also has the starting handle claw and governer pulley. In the parts handbook , its is listed but with out the size. I have measured across ...

Re: Haflingers hard at work
Shame to say my Haflinger is still too bling to go to work. Photo is from a local classic car meet. I have no land to get rough and dirty on. Just a few square meters I concreted over to put a garage for vehicle rebuilds. But maybe in the future. Great photos from every one. Got to organize a traile...

Ticket to Ryde.
Getting out and about now with the renovated Haflinger. Last weekend was a trip to the Isle of Wight and the Ryde classic car show. With good weather, there was a good turn out of many different vehicles. About 500, all along the seafront at Ryde. Haflinger is guaranteed to put a smile on the visito...

Re: Hemi the Haff.
Hello , with reference to the choke cable, I checked my photos before rebuild on my 1967 Mk 2, and the choke cable goes through the small hole that you can see to the right of the carb, even then its quite an acute angle but does work. On my Haffi , the fuel pipe and the throttle rod are similar to ...

Ethanol Petrol E10.
From September this year most garages will be selling E10 petrol in UK. That's , as I understand-- 10% ethanol . It used to be 5%. It does not improve your emmisions but as ethanol is made from plant crops, its manufacture is more eco friendly. The new fuel E10, is not so good with older cars, mainl...

Re: Suspension Straps
Hello Garry, I replaced my very rusty straps with Webbing material. I think its polyester. Known in the boating world as Jack Stays. They are lines that go fore and aft on the deck of a yacht so that you can clip your harness on to it and move along. It is approx inch wide and has breaking strain of...

Re: Haflinger Dashboards
I attach a photo of my dashboard. Just to confuse things, its the dash from the poly-cab fitted to the more common style front which I made. The dash has two fuse boxes, even then its very "busy" with wires behind and I plan to change that and update the fuse system in the winter. The only...

Two year project.
Its been nearly two years since this Haflinger came from the depths of South Wales. It started it's hard life in Scotland in 1967. By all accounts , used off road and unregistered most of its life. Now its registered and back on the road with a new look and new life. Thanks to folks who helped with ...

Regulator main fuse size.
Having searched the manuals and looked in the Forum, I am confused as to the size of the fuse in the regulator. What i took out , which was working, was a traditional glass fuse 35 amp. It had a scorch mark on the paper in the fuse but is working no problem. My intention is to change the fuse to mod...

Re: Zenith Carb problems
Thanks for the comments, I think it was Dave /Ogdenenterprise that posted a picture in a 2014 post of the pump valve and its sealing rubber. I do not have that rubber fitted so I am sure that is my rich running problem. Dale at Haflinger Technix also clarified that, unfortunately he has no stock of ...

Re: Zenith Carb problems
Thanks, As Gary said, I should have got the complete rebuild kit with all inside including the Accelerater plunger etc. It seems I only got the basic gasket, seals and washers kit. So I will endeavour to get the other bits and may consider the jet replacement. I broke the adjustable pump rod, trying...

Zenith Carb problems
Having been able at last to get my Haflinger on the road legally, got my new logbook and date related registration from DVLA after 6 weeks. I did a 4 mile drive around the blocks to see how things went after rebuild. Mostly ok. After the 3rd mile the engine started to miss. I managed to get home. I ...

Re: Wing Mirrows.
Thanks , I will need the brackets as well. I like the Defender ones but they are big and not "sympathetic" to the age and style of the vehicle. I found some advertised for early series Landys that might do. Link--https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-SERIES-2-2A-3-WING-MIRROR-ARM-562912/32...

Wing Mirrows.
Any body know of a reasonable priced pair of wing mirrows that would fit on the side of the body work of a Haflinger. There is no bracket at present. I have looked at early Landrover after market that may work. They are all flat glass. I think the common 5x7 inch mirrows would be to big. They would ...

Re: Reverse gear.
Ok thanks John, There are in fact metal shims. The ones on the diagram are 1.5 mm. There was one in place initially. I removed that and connected up, no difference. The rod goes backwards when going into reverse , IE , that is the gear lever goes forward-- after being pushed down and moved to the le...

Re: Reverse gear.
Thanks. I have rebuilt the gear lever mechanism and fitted as per spec. But I still can not get reverse. I disconnected again and can get reverse by moving the long rod underneath. So I know its there. I did connect the gear lever whilst in reverse but could not select it back again. I have tried se...
