Re: Low compression

No luck finding the dyno curves for the motor, though I will ask if he still has them. He did quite a bit of tweeking on the motor, the 83mm pistons had to be shaved down to get them correct. That and some head work to open the chambers up and run a modified set of BMW valves. The truck is in Rivers...

Re: Low compression

Leo out of LA did my dyno pulls on his bench. I did not get the printouts but thought he sent me an e-file with them.
I will look and post if I find them

Re: Low compression

Where in the manual does it say what the proper compresion should be? I built mine with VW cylinders and pistons (Mahle, and chose a 8:1 compression ration which is giving me close to 140 PSI in each cylinder. since the motor is new (couple hundred miles) I am just wondering if I should be worried a...

Re: 1962 haflinger for sale in hawaii ready to ship

I visit the islands at least once a year and as you know there is lots of interest in Air cooled vw's. you might want to take it to one of the vw car shows. I have a few vw's and when I drive my hafi to a gathering the interest in it is in great. I am a member of the kahiko kula vw club, if you want...

Take a torch and heat the case boss, then carefully with a set of plyers you can pull it out. It is just pressed in.

Re: Haflingertreffen Nordamerika 2013

Just got back, I stayed in the shadows due to the lack of my truck and the wife getting violently sick Friday night. Anyway I was glad to meet a few fellow hafi owners and did take a few photos from the sugarloaf trail ride. Next year I will make sure any "tune ups" happen way in advance s...

Re: Power plant. What's the weight?

Before you pull it, i suggest you steam all the old gunk off of it. Then consider buying a black light and small bottle of oil dye and pour it into your motor. Run it for 10 minutes and look for the dye with
A black light.

Re: Wiper arm substitution option?

Those arms and blades look identical to early VW beetle ones. VW beetle parts are easy to source.
If the blades on a beatle are to short the early bus ones are the same just about 5 cm longer.

It is a Hawaiian tiki. I have them as well as cup holders in all my vehicals. The holder on the hafi is just a quick one I made out of scrap around the shop. Here is one for my Pinz http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p216/westernair/null-6.jpg Here is a nicer one I made for my bus. http://i129.photo...
