It's really interesting to see that Polycab Haflinger in Australia... haven't seen any other before!
Would be interesting to get the serial numbers for further research... is there anyone who will have a look at the vehicle on site?
Kind regards,
Constantin

Re: Rear wheel brake cylinder applications
Hello,
I'd be hesitant to fit same size cylinders on all wheels, since overbraking of the rear wheels can get you in serious troubles.
A better option might be to fit the longer brake pedal (standard on LWBs and all Italian models).
Cheers, C.

Hi Rick,
Good for other Haflinger enthusiasts, but sad to see many of your parts and vehicles go!
I hope you keep at least one or two Hafs for your pleasure!!
Cheers,
Constantin

Re: So for this fine day, I give you.....the Crofton BUG
Hello, very interesting topic, thanks for posting! I think I will ask some old ex SDP aftersales service employees if they can remember anything about this company. And yes, thanks, I would definitely like to include that topic in my website! Is there any date on the back side of that brochure? Chee...

Re: engine oil leak
The version with closed crankcase breather system was only shown in the last version of the spare parts catalogue (1970 version with hand written extensions). The picture was taken from the manual of the Fiat 126 with Steyr-Puch engine, which had the same system fitted. A picture can be found e.g. o...

Here is a picture:
Like John, I also think that the valves with numbers 1 and 4 could cause the problem if they are mounted in the wrong way or if they are somehow damaged.

Re: engine oil leak
The pictures show the closed crankcase breather system. Ventilation is still possible, because the cover on top of the filler pipe has a connection with the air filter manifold that sits on the carb. The system ensures that the crankcase fumes are rather burned than released to the atmosphere. The r...

Re: Clunk in the Drivetrain
Gary,
the picture "confirming" that there are no stones on the rear shafts is just showing two shafts without the stones mounted...
To the best of my knowledge, all Haflingers were fitted with the same type of square stones on both front and rear axles.
Cheers,
Constantin

Re: webbing buckles
David,
again sorry for the delay in this topic, but at least the measurement of the strap width I think I can do this weekend.
Regarding the angle parts with the thread in your picture, I also don't know what they are good for. Haven't seen these parts before.
Cheers,
Constantin

Re: webbing buckles
Hi, the Haflinger in the photos above still has its original canvas hood, and the color on the inside shows quite well what it must have looked like when new. On the outside, it has faded a lot, being not olive any more but rather light grey. I also know of Haflingers with two different shades of gr...

Hello David, here are the pictures. I was wrong on the end caps, it seems they are not riveted but only pressed onto the straps. Re: webbing buckles
Dave, I think that on full canvas cabs, usually only two straps were fitted. You may have also noted, that on the rear canvas bow, there are only two ears for those straps (might be different on yours, since I think that you had it reproduced). On the front end at the windscreen, the strap is sewed ...

Thanks Dave for bringing up my old message!
I still think that RAL 9006 would be the best choice for Haflingers with silver rims.

It clearly looks like an ex Australian Army Haf.
Guard plates with extra brackets, rear indicators, raised air vent (small version) and you can still see where the tactical signs and the tool holders were mounted.

C.

Re: Haflinger "Pathfinder" Lucas reflector.
I bought a pair of rubbers at http://www.rdent.com/
On the website go to: Model specific parts > Elan > Elan Parts
There you can search for "side marker base". A pair costs 19 USD.

Constantin
