Aye, when you own a Haflinger there is always something needing done!
Frustrating for you, but it could have been so much worse - a tank leaking like that in an enclosed space is a real fire hazard.
Nice job on getting the profile in the metal patch, that must have taken a bit of time.

Re: Haflingers hard at work
Thanks Garry - yes, both looking fine (and both behaving)! ;) Dan - the reinforcement that you see at the driver and passenger entrance is a piece of stainless steel 'C' section that has been riveted over the existing steel box section. It was on the Haf when I bought it; I did remove it last year t...

John, Dan - I don't have any of the skills or knowledge to help you with this problem - however I would like to pass on my appreciation for your work and efforts in keeping the forum working.
Thank you!

Re: Haflingers hard at work
More firewood duties this past weekend. I managed to coerce my daughter in to giving me a hand by letting her do the driving - she was mightily impressed with her own driving in the rough, boggy stuff at the end of the track (I didn't have the heart to tell her it was my discrete and judicious use o...

Some great photos John, thanks for posting. Would love to know more about the vehicle above - I wonder where it is now?heinkeljb wrote:... There was a twin engined version entered in Rallye des Cimes in Pyrennees by an Austrian garage owner which was virtually unstoppable.

Re: Is this too far for a Haflinger in 2 wweks
Hi Garry, it sounds like an epic trip! With enough preparation I'm sure that the vehicle will make it, what about yourself? - if you feel physically and psychologically prepared as well, and feel that it is something that you would enjoy then go for it. It'll probably be hot, dusty, uncomfortable, f...

Re: The 'Off-Road' picture thread
Thanks Garry - yes, I agree, I don't like taking the Haf in to deep(ish) water and mud. It's not so much the effect it may have on the distributor/spark, more the wear and tear when it gets in to components like the dynastarter, or past hub-seals, etc. It certainly got well distributed around the en...

Re: The 'Off-Road' picture thread
At last, following on from the Photobucket fiasco I have opened up another photo account and can store and post photos on-line; this means of course that I can start to restore some of the historical photos in this thread and more importantly post some new ones! This was the first trial of the year ...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
Hi CZ - if the damper was removed the axle would drop down a little further, though other stuff starts to get in the way; I've no wish to stress any of drivetrain components, so what I've done can be regarded as a very mild 'lift'. Because my track is now wider than standard (wider banded wheels and...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
Yesterday I stripped out the suspension and put a couple of washers underneath the top and bottom spigots that locate the spring/end-plate assembly in-place. This had the effect of increasing the droop resting position of the swing-axle and effectively increasing the clearance under the vehicle - no...

Re: BMW Engined Haflinger
An interesting post and photos Garry! Like many I'm sure I've toyed with the idea of transplanting a more powerful engine in to the Haflinger. I've thought about BMW, Moto-Guzzi, Honda, Volkswagen and Kohler - generally flat or V-twin. A bit more power and a higher top-speed would be nice. What has ...

I recognised some of the trucks from other forums I frequent; it looks like a great event in a fantastic setting. Keeping this post on-topic,...

So much effort and achievement in one post! (the thought of driving a Haflinger through London rush-hour traffic - yikes).
Looking forward to your updates John.

Re: My Hafy project is complete
Very nice!
Is that a twin pipe exhaust on it? If it is more details please..
Was the windshield horrendously expensive?
I like the chairs in the back - the wood is a nice touch.
By the way, when you have a Haflinger I don't think it is ever 'complete' - there's always something to do!

Re: Haflingers hard at work
Nice to hear some stories and see some pictures of how we use our vehicles! I do like to see them being used. It was a beast of burden again this weekend - I had to shift an old shipping container to its new location up by the new garage; it's in quite a horrible condition actually, the roof and the...

Haflingers hard at work
It’s great to have the wee truck for utility duties around the place and thought I’d post up some photos of what it sometimes gets used for. Feel free to share your own. (Could be anything - even transporting the shopping!) Shifting roofing panels for a new garage/workshop (I only moved them 100m or...
