Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
The gearbox with the casting is an early gearbox and the casting is a mounting point for the handbrake cable. Later vehicles did not have the casting as they fixed the handbrake cable to the platform instead. A bit of steel wool will highlight your chassis number. Does it match the one on you VIN p...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
Ok, nownI understand! Haflinger’s do NOT have a headlight relay! They were all built with suitable contacts to carry the current of any device at the end of the wire. Only exception to this rule is the indicators, but that is only because they turn on and off by themselves. If you want to keep the ...

In daylight and seeing where that cast bracket SHOULD be, I found it. Many thanks, Garry

Re: Canvas frame
Has anyone priced making/buying a pair of canvas-type front doors, and/or a full length hood for a 700? As a cheaper alternative, I might have to consider a hood just over the friver's area, but I would still need some front doors.

Re: Australian Full Registration is Challenging
So you cannot just present the vehicle to a roadworthy tester and take things from there? (like you can anywhere else?) Do you have any old registration information? garry That's exactly what I did - I had a copy of the previous reg back in 2009 and an RWC. The most time consuming part of the exerc...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
I removed the retro-fitted single rifle holder in my non-army Haf. Apart from the date on the nameplate (1974), how can I establish that it is indeed a 1974 model? Those ID plates could easily be swapped between vehicles or even it could be fitted with a new ID plate stamped to suit. My ID plate, f...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
The horn wire goes down the center of the steering column. I replaced mine with some “extra flex” wire asame as the sort of wire you get for the probes that come with a multimeter ( good addition to your toolkit). Then make sure the wire is long enough to allow you to go lock to lock and to press t...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
Headlights sorted - aftermarket relay mounted between the horn and the clutch pedal, Everything I depress the clutch the wire comes off - relocation or re-alignment planned!! Had another go a getting the wipers to park, probably caused by previous owner re-routing original loom without allowing for ...

I can't rotate it as the inlet and outlet would not line up with their respective hoses. But I will try higher or lower though.

Re: Oil Filter
As John has said - something is not correct - the oil bath filter just clicks in. As yourself is it really needed, particularly if not heading into dusty areas. Modern 4wds and on road vehicles just use a paper air filter and they all work fine - however the haflinger engine bay does suck in a bit ...

Re: 703 for sale in Australia
Noticed a serial number there starting with 535xxx. The Haf I had was a 1969 model and it's serial numbers started with 536xxx. His workshop manual states 1969 and Mod 700 but that probably means nothin. Cheers Doug I read it as 5355921. I do not know how chassis numbers relate to years of manufact...

Oil and filter now changed - those additional copper tubes weren't much of a problem, but re-securing the oil bath air filter with those clips is, Currently secured with cable ties!!

Re: Headlights. ... New thread
I went for my first night drive just now since owning this Haflinger. I had a friend walk in front of me with a candle to find my way home!! LOL Seriously, my headlights are not bright and I would not currently drive it at night. What legal upgrades have other owners done. Should the dynastart be ab...

Re: Oil Filter
Regardless whether those oil lines are necessary or not, wouldn't the same thing be achieved by putting a T-piece (or 2) where oil oil pressure sensor is? Then the oil filter could be serviced in a normal fashion.

Can you try and take some more pictures showing the copper pipe route / termination on the cylinder heads for us? John Here is a photo. ps I realise of course that the dashboard is not original. Re: 703 for sale in Australia
From this photo, it certainly looks like a SWB.heinkeljb wrote: Is it a 703? That means it's a LWB doesn't it? The side boards suggest it is a SWB.
So all these and more suggest the seller is not very familiar with Haflingers.
