Re: Low compression
It is probably a close run thing between whether it is quicker to take platform off or quicker to drop engine.
Re: Tempting
BUT!!!!!
The Haflinger has only one reverse gear. The Champ has a box full of reverse gears. Clearly they were hoping for International sales.

Love the mat and the Mule, I always wanted one . That, and a Lohr Fardier.
John, when I said that the platform was fixed I should have said repaired. It is totally standard.

Re: Sacrilege
Hi Garry, I have been considering making up a piece to cover the platform and fitting with rivnuts having first laid down a very thick bed of waxoyl. The platform is in good nick having had everything fixed when the platform was off. The Haf needs to earn its living in the vineyard so the platform w...

Re: Sorry to say - another nail in the SPD coffin.
Does anyone know:
How many parts in a Land Rover Defender 90 and how many parts there are in a Haflinger?
No point being made, just interested.

Re: Sorry to say - another nail in the SPD coffin.
As Julian says the Austrians and the Swiss had large conscript armies. Probably not a common view but I would prefer to be out in the field in an earlier jeep that the Haflinger was designed to replace,a lot more chance of being able to fix it. I spent a few years as a Rupert in the RAF Regiment and...

Re: Suspension limiting straps
hi John, I replaced all of mine late last year. They are held in place by a long bolt I just took out the split pin at one end removed the nut and then just hit out using a drift. Make a note of the order of the washer, shims etc. Mine came out reasonably easy and had been there for 40 years. Certai...

Re: Leaking master cylinder
Jim and John, I have found the brass fitting in question still fitted to the bottom of the old master cylinder. Firstly, how on earth I forgot to take it off and fit to the new MS is beyond me and secondly it is the only part of the old system that I hadn't thrown out. Good omen, could be a good day...

Re: Leaking master cylinder
Thanks Jim, You may well have identified my error. I am using a new set of pipes from Robert P in Austria and I have screwed the pipe fitting(nut)'directly into, the bottom of the cylinder. I have just looked at page 7. 10/0 in the parts book and it identifies 2 parts which appear to be fitted to the...

Leaking master cylinder
Having replaced my entire brake system I went to fill and bleed the system only to find that I have brake fluid pouring out of the master cylinder where the pipe exits the cylinder, it is pouring out especially when the pedal is depressed. The nut securing the pipe was certainly tight, it isn't cros...

Wheel Cylinders
Morning all
Can anyone give me an estimate of the time needed to change all 4 wheel cylinders, and can it be done without fully removing the brake shoes?
Thanks

Tricks for new Players
yee ha..I had the Haflinger started today for the first time and so still not having brakes I decided to go for a drive around the vineyard. All great apart from I can not find reverse. Is there a trick to selecting reverse gear. Push down, pull up etc etc.

Can you give me a couple of days to get the pruning of the vines finished and I will get the hood out of the hanger and photographed for you. Sorry for the delay.
