Re: road trip from hell
I am not sure I would want a current Ranger as their reliability reputation seems to be worse than a LR. The new Ranger is a joint venture between what is left of Ford Australia and VW - the next gen Ranger and the next gen VW Amorak are basically the same vehicle but not sure if based on the Amorak...

Re: road trip from hell
The Ingenium engine did have a reputation for fuel dilution of the engine oil. Supposedly fixed. You would have a case for a replacement under the consumer law but the issue is that to enforce the law you need to take LR to court with all the issues and stress that entails. As far as insurances go -...

Re: road trip from hell
Dave - I would say you have LEDs in your caravan and landrovers are set up to use incandescent globes in the trailer - these provide the resistance to activate the towing programme in the vehicle. Hence the pulsing in the trailer - as you have indicated you needed a pulse buster - I made my own for ...

Wanted - standard Haflinger wheel nuts
Hi all,
If you are in Australia and have a few standard Haflinger wheel nuts you would be willing to sell and post to me please send me a PM. I am in Canberra.
I am after 5 or 6 nuts, the same as in the attached pic.
Thanks
Garry

Re: Hafling Treffen
I will have to go to the local German Club in Canberra and order a meal to work out what was on those food plates  Not our normal fair - not seen white sausages and those pretzels are100 times the size of what we have in little packets here. Not sure what they were pouring over the pretzels. Ga...

Re: Hemi the Haff.
I must admit I have not had your issue - my lever is what I consider normal though on some occasions I do have trouble getting into some lower gears - but I put that down to me moving the gear lever too quickly for the long linkage to cope and it baulks. I find double shuffling helps sometimes. I wo...

Re: Synchromesh
Most early gearboxes of any make do not have synchro on first or reverse - includes early landrovers and jaguars. It is important that revs are not excessive so make sure revs are not excessive when trying to move into 1st or reverse. What you describe would indicate revs are too high and going into...

Re: Door Latch
Thanks Julian - would make sense but does get a bit blowy in the cabin on that position - when you just pull the door it naturally goes to that position. I need to get a new canvas made so I will get the trimmer to make the canopy and doors so it does seal in that position. Cheers Garry PS - John re...

Re: Cold Weather Flap on the Engine Door
Hi John - I never noticed any issues but the Watch Dog gives a precise readout of what temps are doing on the engine. I soon learnt that coasting down a steep hill with no load and low revs, the engine gets much hotter than driving up the hill in lower gears and revs up high - the opposite to what y...

Cold Weather Flap on the Engine Door
A couple of years ago I fitted a engine watchdog system so I can monitor the temperature of the engine. I have the sensor mounted to one of the head bolts so I get a readout of the metal temperature of the engine. IMG_20181117_181248.jpg Having run it for a while now I have learnt that the engine ru...

Door Latch
When you close your doors, do you pull them all the way in so the sliding latch is completely on the inside like this pic. PXL_20220708_055539240.jpg Or do you only close so the sliding latch is in this position. PXL_20220708_055554450.jpg I use the top position as it pulls the door in nice and clos...

Re: Haflinger for sale in South Africa
If overall gearing is maintained, there is not much advantage in having the 1400cc Datsun engine at the back - still redlines at 75-80kpm.
