Re: Sad News re Barry Jones (Mr Haflinger in Australia)
Oh no, this is a sad news! I hope he rests in peace.
Maybe he has left behind some interesting historic material, such as photos etc. from his Haflinger/Pinzgauer days? It would be a shame if those things get thrown away. Can you maybe try to get in contact with his family?
Kind regards,
Constantin

Re: Shipping haflinger from sydney to switzerland
Markus, good to hear from you and nice Idea to share the container! I just checked and the inner length of a 20" container should be 5.898 m. A Haflinger without bumpers, tow bar etc. should be 2.87 m long, so it might be possible to fit two in a row inside. When I bought my Haflinger in USA wi...

Re: Front Diff Removal
Hi Gary, I think it might be easier to pull the front axle with the whole cross member out. I.e. undo the four bolts that connect the platform to the chassis. Then insert some smaller pins instead of the bolts into the platform holes at the rear axle (so the platform cannot slide away). Then you can...

Hi Garry,
front and rear hub wheel sets have differen dimensions. Maybe you fitted them the wrong way round?
Kind regards,
Constantin

Re: Front Fulcrum Pin Lubrication.
Hello, I have the theory that on younger Haflingers, the wicks were left away. As far as I could see, on my 1971 Haf, there are no wicks in the pins. Also, younger Haflingers have a system with O-Rings, while older versions had flat rubber seals instead of the two large O-Rings per pin. It was possi...

Re: Shuush The Little Haffies Are Sleeping
Gary, be aware that changing the hub gears is not simply taking one set of gearwheels out and putting an new one in. The hub shafts, where the large gearwheels sit on, have tapered bearings which need to be pre-tensioned correctly. This is done with a spacer ring that sits on the back side of the ho...

Re: How do you remove the Dynastart fan?
Jim, I understand your method and it sounds more elegant than what I have done in the past. However I did also not hit the fan blades but only the "cup" part in the middle of the fan, without hurting anything. I am not sure about the fan being threaded for a special puller. Where exactly w...

Hello,
I think if it doesn't come off by itself, you can hit from behind through the stator.
Kind regards,
C.

Re: another haffy on ebay
The Haflinger certainly looks strange... Platform could possibly come off a short wheelbase model and has been "stretched". Engine seems to be much younger than the Haflinger itself, having the oil cooler air exhaust, oil filler for closed loop breathing system etc... I would not buy that ...

Re: Trying to locate a 1963/4 Haflinger I once drove.
Hello, sorry for the delay, here is the picture I had mentioned. I took the note that this was Ryders' demonstrator fleet in 1963. It is possible that the picture was taken at Earls Court in London, where Ryders used to exhibit at the Royal Smithfield show, but I am not sure. Maybe we can find out m...

Re: Trying to locate a 1963/4 Haflinger I once drove.
Hello, yes, DEM2 was a Ryder's demonstrator vehicle. There exists a picture where it is shown together with two other Hafs with plates DEM1 and DEM3, I'll try and find it tomorrow. Ryders still exists, I think they are mainly into used vehicles now, see http://www.ryders.co.uk/. As Julian mentioned,...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
Hello Gary, I would have recommended to make the engine complete before you put it in... i.e. fit all the tinwork, intake and exhaust manifolds, carburetor etc. I think it makes life much easier than to fiddle around with the rest of the parts in and around the engine room at a later stage. I know t...

I think one of the comments there might have come from your side anyway. There are already some good shots of your Subaru Haflinger, b...
