Re: some new things...

I cannot tell you what the final drive ratio but mine is all standard. When I got my Haflinger it had the 70kph hub gears and I later changed them to the 75kph gears which are the fastest standard gears. There is speedo gear unit on the front diff that match the hub gears. I had to change this when ...

Replacement Wiper Blades - Australia

Hi one of my wiper blades has the rubber peeled away. I can get new ones from the usual European sources but I was hoping someone has identified an suitable alternative in Australia? My wipers are standard so just need blades that will fit the flat arms.

Re: some new things...

My engine is 762cc and I run the 75kph hub gears, 14" wheels and 25" tyres (about the biggest that will fit). My cam shaft is not the most advanced and if I could find one I would put it in. On a long flat road with no wind I can get up to about 85kph (GPS) at about 4700 RPM and downhill a...

Re: Halinger and Pinzgauer Club UK Events

Phew - that is a relief so we are similar - what I find amazing is that a 700kg two cylinder vehicle doing 65kph only gets a little better fuel consumption than my 5.3litre, V12 cruising at 110kph.

Glad you had a great trip and Lurch held up well.

Re: Halinger and Pinzgauer Club UK Events

Hi John - glad it went well despite you getting a bit damp.

Wow 370 miles out of a tank - I only get about 160 miles. I just a got a new hobby car - a Jaguar XJ12 and the Haf only gives a bit better fuel consumption than the Jag.

Hmm ok - you must get complaints from your neighbours but I guess by now they are used to it. :?

I got crap from all my other vehicles scattered all across the front of my place so I know what it is like.

Re: Just for fun

I was going to say a spare wheel pad on a Landrover for when the spare is stored on the bonnet - however after reading Dave's response I will go for that :)

Re: Hemi the Haff.

Well you are certainly making progress there which is good to see :-). Re the banjo bolt you will need to source another one as sooner or later it will start leaking or pop out. If you have no luck at the usual haf suppliers - try a diesel injection tuning shop as older diesels run these on their un...

Re: Altered Lurch's exhaust system

This resulted in a rethink of the system and a decision that I didn't really like the routing of the original exhaust or the unequal length of pipes from one cylinder compared tothe other. I think you will find that the lengths of the exhaust pipe from each exhaust port to where they join into one ...

Re: Engine won't start and run.

When reading your post it was obvious top me there was a timing problem - could have been distributor setup, spark plugs leads to wrong cylinder or valve timing out.

Glad you sorted it and a could source of information in the future

Yes like a few things in the Haflinger not a great design - when the engine was being designed - castings for a tensioner mount could have been included.

Re: Engine V Belt Pulleys

Yes thanks John - as I thought but I thought I would ask any way - the last time I did this job I used a philips head screw driver and it worked ok. When I had my old belts on they slipped all the time on start, particularly if it had been raining a bit. So I used to carry roll of toilet paper in th...

Re: Engine V Belt Pulleys

Last year I replaced the oil filter housing to a screw on type (the best thing I have done :-) ) and as part of that I had to remove the crank pulley. Doing that I also replaced the drive belts so had to pull the top dynastart pulley apart to suit the new belts - it was annoying where I would adjust...

Re: Shuush The Little Haffies Are Sleeping

Sorry no link - I know of a guy on another forum who put one in a Land rover and that it works well and was relatively cheap - other than that I have not investigated any further.
