Re: Front Diff Lock Linkages
The bulge on the lever is supposed to wedge fit into the grommet. If they will not hold, a small water bottle under the lever works wonders.

Re: Tie Rod ends - joints
Tie rod ends for a 74 or earlier Mercedes sedan are a direct fit for originals. I buy the whole tie rod with ends on Ebay for the cost of a single joint.
You just use the new ends on the original tie rod tube.

After case is mated and case bolts torqued, slide the pump housing off, install gasket and sealer where required(Permatex Aviation Sealant or equivalent), fasten pump, repeat for bearing cap, remember ...

Re: Pertronix install Tips
Added this to thread, also posted to Off Road Portal. So I came across a weird one, may shed light for others. Upon installing a new unit, the engine would not start(no spark). Re: Engine tin ware
Picture is correct!
Spacer is used on engines with 180mm clutch.
Of note regarding exhaust fitting; muffler inlet is longer on models with spacer.(series 2)

Re: gasket sealer
Caution, use only zero clearance sealant. Permatex Aviation sealant(shallack based, has brush in cap)or anaerobic sealant(also called gasket maker, it is transparent red, a little goes a long way).

Re: Grease - what type for general use?
Over here(U.S.) I use waterproof boat trailer grease or Red Crown synthetic. These types have good overall heat ratings and they dispel water.

Even with your insane import tax policies, this should be affordable and it is brand new.

Re: Converting a military ignition to civvy.....
replacement coil should be more than 3 ohms for Pertronix. VW beetle coil works well(bosch blue), they average 3.7-4.0 ohms.

Re: Converting a military ignition to civvy.....
It is easiest to make a set of conversion wires from 1 of the old wires(screw to cap w/civi plug ends). You can buy single plug wires at Autozone or Napa and custom fit to cap.

The top is taped to the horizontal bars between the hoops, all 1 piece of tarp, folded, cut and taped. The back flap opens. Bungee cord holds to hooks just like factory top. To open flap and keep top tight, I just use an extra bungee to pull the flap forward inside, or tuck it under the center bow. ...
