Must have more than 3.0 ohms for Pertonix units, less will fry the unit.

Pertronix install Tips
Here are a few Pertronix install tips / pic's. First, there are 3 basic distributor types, Cast Iron, Aluminum , and Aluminum Mil Spec. There are only 2 positions to mount the module on the new plate, left or right, left side is for Mil Spec and cast iron units, right side for Aluminum Civilian type....

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
One note on Pertronix installs, there are 3 basic types of distributor, Cast iron, aluminum, and Mil spec aluminum. For Mil spec units, you may need to add a spacer under the module as the magnet ring sits higher on these shafts. I use a small nut or washer under the module screws to raise it up to ...

Re: What did you do with your Haflinger today?
No, the install instructions are quite clear, you must check coil resistance (more than 3.0 ohms) or module will fail.
I've had mine for almost 4 years now, no problems, starts every time.

Some of the Haflinger coils were 1.5-2.0 ohms, always check before installing any type of ignition module.

Austrian and German military Haflingers had the "short" rear doors.
Just change out the hinges on the front doors and they should be fine.

Re: fuel in crankcase
Rule#1 for sealants, If factory did not use it, you don't use it and never use it where fuel is involved! I have been in automotive industry for decades and seen all the mistakes, some can endanger life. Post up a pic or list the washers you need by breakdown #. I have a shit load of old NOS carb wa...

Re: fuel in crankcase
What are you thinking!!!!(I envision massive flames) Never use sealant of any kind on a carb , always use the correct seal washer for each valve as needed. The kit usually has a diagram with it if you lack a repair or parts manual. Fuel eats all sealants. Originally they used fiber washers and moved...

Re: Windshield glass replacement
Use cord string and glass cleaner, takes a few moments each panel. Put the rubber on the glass. wrap string in groove under lip across top, down sides and across bottom, crossing the sting ends. Next put bottom edge of rubber lip over frame, center the glass, have an assistant hold glass onto frame ...

Re: fuel in crankcase
Replace the pump seal, if it fell off it was only 1 issue , 2, float valve must have a sealing washer(.5mm copper or aluminum with thin paper cover gasket). The Unimog carb parts are fine, just move the pump rod to hole furthest out. Zenith float valves are the same length, the orifice varies (1.25,...

Re: fuel in crankcase
Incorrect statement............... Gas can enter crank case if float valve leaks . It will drip down throttle bores into intake manifold and wash out the rings. If the pump is not leaking, then the gas is from the carb overfilling. Also look at the pump check valve, if it leaks, the bowl will siphon...
