Re: Eberspacher.

Hello Constantin

Thanks for the advice- yes good idea to test it well away from the prescious Haflinger, as well as replace all the degradable parts. I would like to do this soon- but the que is long with projects! A few too many as you know.

with regards from a warm Sydney

Re: Eberspacher.

That looks like a good option, as long as there is room enough for the diesel fuel tank. I can send photos of the ducting arrangement should you go down this track. The parts come up on the German ebay site from time to time. Rick

Re: Eberspacher.

Ive got one of these in a 700APT (original fitting), but Im too scared to fire it up. I can just see the bloody thing expoding. Ive bought new diaphragms for it via Robert Prokschi, so should be servicable. Rick

Re: Parts Suppliers for English Speaking People

Hello Garry Ive had excellent experiences with both Autoquariat and Prockschi. They will respond in perfect English. I too get confused with the catalogues so I just email them what I need (with SDP part numbers) and they will advise whether they can supply or not. Its quite painless, particularly a...

Re: Whats it Worth in Aust

Nice Find Garry. I don't think it would fetch much given it it relatively poor condition, and would be expensive to restore. If it were a rare model, it would be more attractive, but it seems to be a Series II 700APT, the most common model here. A seized engine reduces its value. Being stored un-cov...

Nice work Julian. I thinks it's marvelous that you could refit the original crank case and have correct matching numbers. Cheers from Sydney. Rick

Hi Garry.

You are welcome to borrow a skid plate bracket to use as a template for re-bending efforts. Just PM me your postal address if you like. Cheers. Rick

Re: Repro Mufflers

Hi Garry In my experience it pays to get the exhaust manifold and muffler from the same supplier, as I have found they dont align very well if you mix and match. I've purchased them from Haflinger Technik, Autoquariat and Robert Prokshi on different occasions ( depending on availability), and whilst...

Re: Far Canard

Until I sold it, I used the yellow Haffie to work some bee hives. The yellow didnt seem to bother the bees at all. She was a good and reliable little truck, if a little bright. I believe a previous owner wanted to be visible whilst sand duning.

cheers

Far Canard

I took these shots at the Wedderburn Airfield open day in 2011, where I usually show off a Haflinger or two (and take folks for joy rides behind the airstrip). That year we were joined by some members of the Citroen Club of NSW- and among them was ' Far Canard'. The owner has driven this 2CV all aro...

Re: Haflingers at War

Hi Rick, wow, good news! I hope you manage to find the photographs, it would be great !! ;) Hello Max. Im following up on a couple of good leads now, hoping to corroborate stories. No photos as yet. Im afraid the Bandiana Museum folks couldnt tell me much. The vehicle logs, which would have been ve...

Re: Haflingers at War

Hello I am also keen to know how the Indonesian army used their Haflingers. Constantins website http://tdc.haflinger-4wd.com/types/idarmy-haf.php tells us that 1000 Haflingers were sold to the Indonesian army from 1962, some 6% of the entire production of the model, and they received the first of th...

Re: Haflingers at War

Hi Garry, Last year, I sent an e-mail to an Australian Association of veterans of the Vietnam War, to get some information on the presence of Haflinger in Vietnam. Before you answer, the person asked me to contact other veterans and even knowing the Haflinger, all were in agreement that these vehic...

Yep, I went to have a look at that one as it not far from home. Nice example, but it's ID plates were confused. That mob are very good at waiting for the right buyer.

Re: indicator switch

Hi Garry. In case you and others didnt see this one at auction (Shannons, Melbourne) mid last year, she fetched $15,000 through some determined bidding. I think its set a new benchmark (with a few sales around $13,000 prior). This was a nice haflinger, with reconditioned engine, no major rust and in...

Re: indicator switch

The trouble is you cant get a good Haffie cheaply now days unless you are a good haffyhunter (perhaps Steve is good at this). Not sure what the European and North American market is like, but it may cost near $15,000 for a good one here (judging by recent sales), and I cant say Ive seen a fully rest...

Re: Australian Army Haflinger Restoration

Hi Steve Nice photo! Can you tell me where it is from and maybe when? My understanding is there were no polycabs (Kommunal- APK) Haflingers imported into Australia- but thats not to say there wasnt a private import at some time. The haffys used by Tasmanian Hydro were the basic sort of APTL (ie trop...

Re: still in the family- Puch RL125

Thanks again Steve. Yep, they do look very cool, nicer in my eyes than a Vespa or Lambretta. I first saw these when visiting the Puch museum in Graz. They took my fancy, and then was pleased to find out that Australia was an export destination. Even the Australian army had a few, but for what purpos...
