Re: And another - rare in Aust
Yes I can confirm the ex-ACT street sweeper as shown in Matt'and Gary's photos is the same vehicle in the Gumtree ad. The seller has purchased a few ebay items from me. Cheers. Rick

Hello. Just thought I'd mention I've listed a set of near new Semperit tyres on rims on ebay, plus other interesting bits and pieces. Cheers. Rick

Re: Fuel tank lining clogging line and carby
As Kerry mentioned, the main problems with rust arise from the welded plate on the tank just behind where the wheel sits. Here moisture accumulates and is the main site for tank corrosion. With my tank, there were already some pin holes evident, but thankfully the integrity of the tank was not compr...

Re: Fuel tank lining clogging line and carby
I have finished off the fuel tank reconditioning. For the POR15 process, first I rinsed with Marine Clean to remove any traces of oils and fuel gum residue. I think this is essentially sodium hydroxide. It needs to be rinsed well with water before treating with Metal Ready. The Metal Ready acidifies...

Brad, I had wondered if you snapped it up. I'm sure it will resurface again. Congratulation of getting that Army haffy from Wellington via the Central Coast. I'm glad the tip-off worked out for you.

Re: Australian Army Haflinger of Ebay- Snapped up by whom?
The sheet metal doors and the locally made rear canopy and frame ( with sheet metal strip at the two sides) were fitted by Casula Wreckers, who were the company that purchased the army fleet and sold them off. I have seen this combo on many ex-Australian Army Haflingers. I agree with Constantin, thi...

Australian Army Haflinger of Ebay- Snapped up by whom?
This ex-Australian Army Haflinger was listed on ebay at 9:30pm on the 13th of July, but was taken down an hour later presumably with a knock-out offer. Does any one know where it ended up? It would be great to get the chassis and engine numbes for the Register, as this is the 16th vehicle vehicle of...

Re: Fuel tank lining clogging line and carby
I picked up my newly stripped fuel tank yesterday, and have already painted the outside with POR15 rust preventive paint. Ill go through the long process of treating the interior of the tank prior to applying the sealant tomorrow- you have to work quickly as corrosion commences almost immediately on...

Fuel tank lining clogging line and carby
My Haflinger 700AP bug-eye runs beautifully, except recently when the fuel filter began fouling and eventually the motor began to be starved of fuel. The original lining of the fuel tank has been lifting away since I let the tank run dry. I have removed the tank for reconditioning, and found the fue...

Oldest surviving Haflinger in Australia on ebay
Hello Thought it might be of interest to this forum to know I have listed a 1962/63 Haflinger on the Australian ebay site. I believe it's the oldest surviving Haflinger in Australia. I know of two older, but the first has disappeared and the second was likely scrapped. This one is rough but has a go...

Good motor for sale on ebay AU
Hello. I have put up my spare Series 2 Haflinger motor for auction on Australian eBay. The fellow I bought it from said he pulled it from his customized Haflinger about 20-30 years ago to fit a brand new motor disposed of by the Australian Army. I don't think I'll ever need it, and there are plenty ...

Haflinger Club of Australia- Volunteers sought for handover
Hello After putting a fair bit of effort in launching the site, Ive run out of puff. I have broadened my business interests in this last year to the point I no longer have time to maintain this site. The hard work has been done, putting the thing in-place, so I think maintaining the site should be s...

Re: Haflinger on Gumtree 1962
For my money, this is an early 1970s series 2, 700APT, the most common type found in Australia. There were more of this type exported here than any other. If this one is mechanically sound with minimal rust, the asking price might be close to the mark. Only an inspection will tell. Rick

Re: Ebay - Haflinger Bits is Aust - Ambitious or Reasonable
Hi Brad That Haflinger sold to Andy about 4 years ago is an ex-Australian Army Haflinger, and I would love to get hold of the numbers for the Registry. He also owns an ex-ACT street sweeper bug eye from memory, also via ebay. If you ever get hold of the chassis and engine numbers, I would be very gr...

Re: Ebay - Haflinger Bits is Aust - Ambitious or Reasonable
Im with Garry on that one, 3K tops. Personally, I wouldn't pay more than $1500 given the extent of work required, lack of engine, not to mention parts that she would consume to get her back in running order. So, for me, its... Ambitious. But cant blame the bloke for trying.

Dear Garry Im touched by your concern. Ive just been busy these last few months getting a new business off the ground, importing European-made electric bikes into Australia. They are becoming huge in the bicycle market in Europe, and reckon they might make a splash here too. This on top of running t...

Hello David Welcome to the forum. It may prove to be a great help over the course of your restoration and beyond. Yes, a full rebuild is a huge job. I don't think Ill work up the courage to do another. Ive also purchased shocks from Dale at Haflinger Technik, and then from Robert Prokschi in Vienna ...
