Hi chaps,
I've seen a few haflingers recently with VW beetle engine conversions, although they work and people have made the conversion for a reason I prefer things as per factory.
So my question is how difficult would it be to revert back to the original engine & is there much work to the body or is it all mechanical.
thanks
Gren

Re: Returning to standard.
The conversion on the engine is easy, still uses 4 bolts - except that there are 4 bolts holding the VW engine to a converter plate and then 4 bolts holding the converter plate to the original clutch bell housing.
The body work will have been modified as well as the VW engine is bigger than original. Exactly what has been modified will depend on who did the work. Everyone will have done things slightly differently.
Biggest problem you have probably is getting an original engine.
